Cape San Blas is located on St. Joseph Peninsula, a narrow stretch of land extending out from Port St. Joe and curving around St. Joseph Bay. The “Cape,” as most call it, was named the best beach in America (2002) by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman (a.k.a. Dr. Beach). Nearly equal parts pristine beaches, a bay with abundant sea life and a laid-back lifestyle, Cape San Blas is truly a vacation paradise.
Popular activities include fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking and hiking. Loggerhead Trail is a 12-mile paved recreational pathway that runs the length of the Cape. Along the way, you’ll find local stores stocked with beach supplies and groceries, and unique restaurants with ice-cold oysters or hot pizza.
St. Joseph Peninsula State Park became an island, created by Hurricane Michael in 2018, but was reopened in 2019 after sand refilled the separation during natural processes.. While still a work in progress due to the significant damage caused by the hurricane, it is still one of the areas must visit locations.
